I Velvet Underground, gli inizi: un fantasmagorico viaggio sottoterra tra la metropolitana di New York e sale-prove come laboratori alchemici, incontri, visioni, rotture, tutto in presa diretta lungo un leporello di oltre un metro realizzato da Marco Petrella in una tiratura limitata di sole cinquanta copie, ognuna con una copertina disegnata a mano. Marco Petrella, illustratore e fumettista, pubblica abitualmente recensioni letterarie disegnate su La Lettura, il supplemento culturale del Corriere della Sera. Vive a Roma, dove disegna, legge, ascolta musica e gira in vespa. Con Andante ha già pubblicato A proposito di Brautigan.

Il 24 agosto, all'interno degli spazi della Mole, prenderà avvio il progetto artistico realizzato da Valerio Giacone dal titolo NON HO MAI SMESSO DI SOGNARE IL MARE. Il percorso prevederà, oltre che una parte espositiva, una serie di azioni proposte dall'artista all'interno dell'ex lazzaretto e nei quartieri adiacenti, e si concluderà domenica 30 agosto con la presentazione del libro, da cui prende spunto l'intero progetto (Non ho mai smesso di sognare il mare, ed. Andante Books is proud partner of the Rome Public Libraries (RPL) for developing and supporting the new exhibition of renowned Italian illustrator Marco Petrella. Marco, who recently issued an Andante picture book devoted to the life and works of Richard Brautigan, has been asked by RPL to gather his productions issued by magazines and publishing houses, in order to show it reorganized in thematic areas (artist's portraits, visual literary reviews, book covers). The exhibition, originally imagined to be held at the premises of the RPL around Rome, due to the covid lock-down has been reshaped as an online venue, open to visits here: PAREPOP. Enjoy -- and, take note: Andante Books will soon issue a new, special book of Marco Petrella, a Velvet Underground visual history issued in limited edition with an original drawing in each copy!
